Legacy Society
The VNA Legacy Society of the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties (VNAIC) is intended to recognize donors who have indicated their intent to leave our Organization a gift through their will, estate plans, or as a named beneficiary for a life insurance policy, charitable annuity or trust.
“Deciding to include the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties
in our estate plans was an obvious one. We knew they cared for many people
who needed their services and could not afford to pay for them. We also knew they would use our bequest for the maximum benefit of the most needy in our community because of sound administrative practices and low overhead costs.”
- [Ray and Dick, VNA Legacy Society Members]
A variety of legacy gifts qualify for participation in the [VNA Legacy Society], the most common one being a bequest through your will or trust. This type of legacy gift is inexpensive and requires no cash out-of-hand to establish. A cash amount may be specified by you or you may specify a percentage of the estate, a residual amount or your total estate be given to the VNAIC. Your bequest may also include instructions for the use of your gift though we strongly encourage donors wishing to do so to contact our Office of Philanthropy to discuss your intentions.
To ensure we receive your legacy gift bequest and give appropriate acknowledgement to your estate and family, it is important to insure our legal corporate name and contact information is provided in your estate document.

Other types of legacy gifts also qualify you for participation in the VNA Legacy Society. These include the following [planned giving strategies], each with various benefits to you:
· Gifts of Life Insurance. Naming us as a beneficiary in your policy provides a gift without involving your estate or reducing the value of your estate for your heirs.
· Gifts of Retirement Assets. Similar to a gift of life insurance, you can name us as a beneficiary of the remainder of the assets in retirement plans or IRAs.
· Charitable Remainder Trusts. A variety of trusts are available to provide income to you and offer immediate or future tax savings.
· Charitable Gift Annuity. Funded with cash or appreciated securities, charitable gift annuities provide you with income based upon your age at the time of your gift.
· Gift of real estate or personal property. Real estate may be given or sold at a bargain price, and personal property such as collections and art may be donated for our tax exempt purposes.

We strongly encourage you to consult with your attorney, financial planner and other appropriate professionals to establish any type of legacy gift, and to contact us directly so that one of our skilled professionals can work with you, and them, to insure your intentions will be carried out in the most meaningful and beneficial way. If you are uncertain of which professionals are most appropriate for you to work with, our Office of Philanthropy may be able to assist you.
As a VNA Legacy Society Member, you will receive personal communication from our senior administrative personnel keeping you informed and abreast of any changes or updates within the VNAIC.
